Circumcision Procedure for Adults
In men circumcisions are done for various reasons, for cosmetic reasons and medical reasons.
Occasionally, circumcisions are also done because patients have developed phimosis, which is tightening of the foreskin which prevents it from being retracted over the penis. Phimosis can make urination difficult and may make sex painful.
Dr. Athari and his Specialists team has developed an adult circumcision technique that is virtually painless. Avoid sedation or general anesthesia and get a great cosmetic result.
The foreskin is removed just behind the head of the penis using a scalpel or surgical scissors
You will have a local anaesthetic, which will numb your penis and the surrounding area. You only feel the first needle prick and no discomfort after that. We do not start the circumcision unless we have tested the penis to ensure the circumcision is completely pain free. Throughout the circumcision, you are awake and will be able to speak to your doctor, watch or check your phone or listen to the music.
Any bleeding can be stopped using dissolvable stitches material. The remaining edges of skin will be stitched together also using dissolvable stitches.
By using dissolvable stitches after the circumcision means that you do not need to come back to the clinic for removal of stitches.
We do not use glue as this is not strong enough to hold the circumcision wound together.
During erections, the penis will become larger and the circumcision wound will be pulled in all directions. Sutures will provide better resistance to the wound breakdown in comparison to the glue.
